Back at it

I haven’t touched the engine in nearly a month. Holidays, job search, Kenzie home on break and other shop projects had put the Kahlenberg on hold. I’m okay with that as there is no schedule by design. But I had some time this weekend to get back at it.

Picking up where I left off, the governor shaft continues to be dismantled. I’m down to the fuel injectors which should be out soon. Also spent time cleaning, labeling and packaging. Parts are placed in ziplocks and put into plastic containers by sub-assembly. I’ve been pretty good about labeling but already have concerns about how this shaft is going to go back together.  Exhibit A: I have two small flathead screws that escaped the system. I know the area where they came from but damned if I can find their home. Now in a bag labeled ‘???’ along with that geographical approximation. Flathead screws are few on this motor, only used for retaining pins and keys from what I see so far. Can’t be that hard to find their place, right?
